A symbol marking indicating that a product complies with all relevant Directives of the European Union. By affixing the CE marking to a product, a manufacturer declares, on his sole responsibility, that the product meets all the legal requirements for the CE marking. The CE marking consists of the CE symbol and, if applicable, the four-digit identification number of the Notified Body (or Notified Bodies) involved in the conformity assessment procedure.
For scales the following directives apply:
- EMC Directive 2014/30/EC (where applicable)
- Directive on Non-Automatic Weighing Instruments 2014/31/EC
- Medical Device Directive 93/42/EEC (where applicable)
The CE marking in line with the conformity assessment procedure according to Directive 2014/31/EC comprises the CE symbol, the last two digits of the year number in which the CE marking was affixed and the verification was performed, and the identification number of the Notified Body that performed the EC verification, or under whose supervision the EC verification was performed by the manufacturer. CE marking in line with the conformity assessment procedure according to Directive 93/42/EEC affixed to Class I products with measuring function and products of Class IIa comprises the CE symbol and the identification number of the Notified Body under whose supervision the EC verification was performed.
