Nephrology
Patients treated in nephrology facilites often suffer from chronic kidney failure and require dialysis. In this situation, the exact measurement of dry weight is critical to ensure that the patient does not develop symptoms of low blood pressure or cramping, which can occur when too much fluid is removed. Since patients undergoing dialysis are weak and their mobility is severely limited, they must be weighed while seated or lying down. Hence the ideal solution to use seca platform scales.

Weighing without restrictions.
With weakness and fatigue being common side effects experienced by many patients on long-term dialysis, the seca 684 digital multifunctional scale with wireless transmission was designed especially for this specialty.
The railing on three sides of the platform provides support for patients while they are being weighed. Patients may also be weighed while on the integrated folding seat, which can be lowered with just one hand. Furthermore, the platform is large enough to accommodate a wheelchair. The weight of up to three nurses and the wheelchair can be deducted from the total weight by the Pre-TARE function, leaving only the patient's weight in the display.
The seca 684 transmits data automatically to a seca wireless printer or via the software seca emr flash 101 to an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.

The seca analytics 115 PC software turns the scale into a complete system.
The central element of the software is the patient database. Every measured weight is clearly associated with a patient and observed over time so any changes in weight can be closely monitored.
The analytical software provides extra support to improve the quality of nutritional care in hospitals, which is particularly suitable for malnutrition screening and to establish the patient’s level of risk.
